Bird lovers will no doubt have a few bird houses, bird baths and nesting boxes about their back and front yards. Any of these are a great attraction for all types and species of birds that may inhabit your area of the world. However there is no greater attraction for any animal than their food of choice. Many birds love and will flock to all different types of bird seed. Birdseed is made up of a variety of different types of seeds that are common to the diets of many birds. This is dangerous for the birds because after the bird has eaten the rice and then stopped off for a drink of water the rice would swell in the bird’s stomach and cause health problems and even be fatal. Now bird seed is often thrown at weddings and other celebratory events because what is left on the ground is then safe for the birds to eat.

A bird seed wreath is often a circular decoration that has bird seed attached to it with a non toxic substance that is for decoration as well as for birds to pick at and eat from. Birdseed ornaments are decorations that are made from the same types of ingredients but usually hung from the branches of trees much as you would decorate a Christmas tree, only they are there for birds to graze on when they are hungry.

To make a birdseed wreath or to make birdseed ornaments you really only need a minimal amount of tools and supplies, most of which can be found in your home. These crafts often include bird seed, a type of ball or sticks and something sticky such as peanut butter that will not harm the birds if they should ingest a bit of it. The instructions are simple and easy to print out or just assemble by reading the instructions from your computer screen to save a tree or two.

All in all if you are a crafty person and enjoy watching the birds that frequent your area of the world bird seed crafts will be an enjoyable hobby for you. If you are not so crafty and just want to enjoy watching birds feed in your trees or at your bird seed feeders you can purchase bird seed to place in your feeders at any animal friendly store as well as pre-made bird seed wreaths and ornaments.
